Long-Haired Tortoiseshell Cat Breeds

The round face and small muzzle of the Persian cat breed set it apart as a long-haired cat breed known as the Persian longhair.

1. Persian

Although the precise place of origin of Persian cats is up for controversy, the vast majority of experts agree that the breed originated in what is now Iran but was then known as Mesopotamia.

The Domestic Longhair, a breed of cat well-known for its ability to hunt rodents, was brought to America from Europe in the 1700s.
